Big Storm a Brewin’

This month, things may look smooth on the surface. This apparent calm may lead to a false sense of security. Don’t be misled. Just underneath the surface, and I mean just, is a storm. This month is not the calm before the storm, it is the storm!

Surprisingly, this is a good thing. So many things we’ve been tolerating have been brewing just under the surface and are about ready to blow. Head off the storm by getting in front of this energy. Ask yourself what no longer fits in your life, and take steps to let it go.

It’s not that there’s anything wrong with how things were, it’s just that the reasons we started them are no longer relevant. This is the month to take stock of what’s absorbing your energy. If it’s not bringing in as much or more reward, and by that I mean benefit for you, then let it go. Done. Over.

You could say this month’s energy is for cutting cords to outdated activities. But it also relates to outmoded ways of thinking and feeling. There is very clear energy this month to see what is yours and what is theirs. Often, people take on other peoples’ bad behavior by asking the question, “What did I do to deserve this?”

This month, the energy is there to see clearly. Someone else’s inappropriate or disappointing behavior may be just that. Theirs. It is not a reflection on you or your self worth.

Once we stop denying our own self worth, we can get busy recognizing it. And with that awareness, we find new pathways of expression. Who are we and what will we create when we’re honest about our gifts? It may be that, in the past, we were motivated by projects that would validate who we are. If you can just acknowledge the truth of you from within, you’re free to do what you LIKE.

Big storms come with big winds. If we’re ahead of it, those winds can carry us to distant shores. And after big storms, the sky is usually clear and bright. This month provides us with a clear perspective to see why some of the activities from the past no longer apply. By dismantling old structures, you will find yourself with the space to breathe and expand in new ways. Value yourself honestly and a new way is clear.

“I open to my fullest self.”

What are you tolerating?

If you’re not sure, ask yourself:

·      Where is the biggest energy output?

·      Is it regenerative, or draining?

·      Or am I just breaking even?

Ask yourself why you started down that path? Then consider whether or not that motivation is still relevant.

Yes? Maybe it just needs some tweaking. No? Maybe it’s time to end it.

Endings can be scary because we are often left standing in the unknown. What will happen? What’s next?

Write a list of what you bring, your gifts, your skills. And know nothing gets wasted. It’s all used. Life will not let your gifts go to waste. It’s just a matter of making yourself available.

I keep singing this song. Something about the walls tumbling down in the city we love – dismantling what we hold dear. And the question: How am I gonna be an optimist about this?! Enjoy!

“And the walls kept tumbling down
In the city that we love
Great clouds roll over the hills
Bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
Nothing changed at all?
And if you close your eyes,
Does it almost feel like
You’ve been here before?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?
How am I gonna be an optimist about this?”
