A Time of Confluent Change

Swimming. That’s the word I got as I tapped into the energy for July. At first, I thought it might be about a pool party and summer fun. Unfortunately, I don’t think I have to tell you, this is not a normal pool party summer. It’s more like a whirlpool. We are immersed in a confluence change. That’s rarely comfortable, but it is important. And, so, we each do our part to shoulder the burden.

In addition to the pandemic and radical social change, almost everyone I know has at least one or more additional personal layers they’re carrying. My dad passed away. A friend lost his job. Several friends have been out of work for months. Another friend’s mother is in the hospital.

This is an enormous amount of pressure we’re experiencing right now. I don’t say it to make you feel worse, but to acknowledge your strength. It’s impressive. This month, I urge you to remember we are powerful people. Pressure? Yes. Can you handle it? Yes. Will you handle it? Absolutely. And if it’s too much, get help.

In The Shift System one of the cornerstones of a strong foundation is support. Friends. Family. Professionals. Pets. Hobbies. Social media friends. I’ve discovered that talking about my stressors doesn’t stress my friends out. And them talking to me about theirs doesn’t stress me out. But letting us each share what’s happening releases pressure and allows for perspective. Some of my relationships have shifted a lot since the outbreak of Covid-19. I have friends I check in with several times a week now. I check on them. They check on me. And this mutual care weaves a web of strength for us all. If you don’t have strong support right now, think of who you might initiate it with. They may want it as much as you!

Think of this month as: Superhero Goes to the Spa. You may not be able to take the cape off, but you can still get a mani-pedi. Well, actually, with Covid you probably can’t. Never the less, take care of yourself. Say “yes” to things that make your life easier. Next month, I actually did get “pool party”. So, hang in there!

JULY This is not a good month for heavy lifting. In fact, you may feel like you’re carrying around the weight of the world. The best thing you can do is picture taking that weight off your shoulders and putting it down. Too heavy. Too hard. Turn your worries over to the Universe. They’ve got you!
