RECAP: Last month was about returning to simpler times and finding our way by asking what our 10-year old would do.
Low key. That’s the phrase that came to mind when I touched into the energy for December. Not actually resting but keeping things incredibly simple. Exerting minimal energy. Keeping energy in reserve.
This goes beyond not overdoing of the holidays. So many people are feeling exhausted from the pace and intensity of life. The concept of starting a new year may feel a bit overwhelming. It’s almost as if we’re inhaling as deeply as we can so we can propel ourselves into the new year.
Life’s intensity probably isn’t going to lift anytime soon. And so, we’re called to find a new way of being within these times. To find our center. To hold steady. To find joy within the simple moments. To simplify. This is the mandate for 2020. Now more than ever we’re called to be here now. In this moment I am safe. In this moment I am happy. In this moment I am at peace.
This holiday season is a great time to practice our “be here now.” Stop. Take in the moment. Appreciate what you have. Appreciate those around you. Value life. Find awe in the sunsets, the night skies, the first snow. Revel in the wonder of children. Count your blessings. Your many, many blessings.
I have been fascinated by superhero shows lately – Arrow, The Flash. But more than the glamour of their superpowers, what fascinates me is watching these everyday people accept their gifts, learn how to use them and grow into heroes. These are not ordinary times and being ordinary people will not suffice. Now is the time for extraordinary people dressed as ordinary people living extraordinarily powerful lives.
We can no longer play small and lie to ourselves about who we are. The times will not allow it. Instead we are called to recognize our gifts and learn how to use them like heroes.
What are your gifts? Listening? Speaking up? Gathering friends. Providing comfort? Saving the day? How will you use them to better your world?
I spoke last month about an “energetic earthquake” coming at the end of December or beginning of January. What I saw were two energetic tectonic plates snapping into a new alignment. I’ve begun to associate this with the alignment between the truth we know within ourselves and how we live our lives. The message I got was that we can no longer be out of alignment with ourselves without consequence. We cannot “know” something or someone is not right for us without making some adjustments. We simply can no longer betray ourselves by living a lie.
