I stumbled onto a really simple technique for releasing fear. It started one day when I was feeling really stressed. Tired of reaching and struggling for what I wanted, I opened my arms in a position of receiving. Surprisingly, I suddenly felt at peace.
I’ve continued to do it, each time struck by the power in this simple gesture. And I realize that it’s about more than receiving. It’s about yielding. Like animals showing surrender by exposing their soft underbellies, this open gesture exposes the vulnerable underside of the arm. The message is, I surrender. And suddenly, I feel safe.
