Seriously, How Are You Going to Live Your Life?

The first feeling that came was fear, which is no surprise. There’s a lot of fear out there. This fear seems to have to do with a feeling of being out of control, losing control. Choices being taken away.

I don’t think it’s anything bad. I think extended restrictions are for our own good, but I think it may be a struggle for people – especially in America, land of the free, home of the brave – to give in to someone else’s demands. And not to have full control over our lives.

Nevertheless, I believe we’re in for another month of sheltering in place. And, quite possibly longer.

Surrender is the name of the game. Giving in to what is. Accepting our current situation is the path of least resistance. How can you/we make the most of our time of sequestering?

A friend suggested that the length of this crisis may be the time it takes for the lessons we’re learning about what we value and how we live to stick. I can only hope that the world over, we’re realizing that we’ve got to shift how we inhabit this planet. We’ve got to blend in, to become more harmonious. To stop destroying ecosystems. It won’t take everyone. All it takes, and I remember this from futurists and prophets from the 70’s saying we just need a critical mass.

During this time, do your homework. Pay attention to how you live. Waste not, want not. Be kind. Value what you have. Live gently on the planet. Have authentic relationships. (Read more in my article Covid- 19: An Opportunity Within a Crisis).

As painful as this process is for those who are ill and have lost loved ones, we have the opportunity to gain ground, to evolve and thrive as my friend Victoria says. This month think about what you’re experiencing now and how it can become lasting changes in your life. Photo by Sarah Dorweiler on Unsplash.
